The Stop Tobacco Initiative

About

Out Youth’s Transgender Wellness Program has partnered with Austin Public Health to bring you Breathe With Pride to support the LGBTQ2IA+ community in changing their relationship with commercial tobacco and transforming their lifestyle to be healthier and become an advocate for health and wellness.

Are you passionate about LGBTQ2IA+ community health or tired of seeing the commercial tobacco industry target LGBTQ2IA+ communities, events, and individuals? Email Era Steinfeld to sign up for the Breathe With Pride newsletter or to find out more about how you can join Austin Public Health in the fight to end the harms caused by the tobacco industry: era.steinfeld@austintexas.gov.

Past Community Events

On March 25th, 2022, Program Manager, G.E. Loveless, and their team of three youth ambassadors hosted the first health and wellness event for the initiative named the Queer & Trans Wellness Forum: Tobacco Use & Health Empowerment. During this event, three skill shops and a roundtable discussion were facilitated to where attendees became comfortable and confident in their experiences, relationship, and stories with tobacco [nicotine] usage. This Fall, G.E. Loveless & Corey Alan, the Community and Youth Assistant, worked collaboratively with other organizations to bring you The Wellness In Pride Summit on September 18th, 2022. The Wellness In Pride Summit gathered LGBTQ2IA+ allies, community leaders, and young professionals together to explore and strengthen health and wellness knowledge, practices, and initiatives in the Greater Austin area.

We also hosted a Community & Wellness Series for youth ages 12 - 18 at Out Youth in October 2022, January, and February 2023!
