Programs & Services
Out Youth provides many programs and services that promote the educational, mental, emotional, physical and social development of LGBTQIA (lesbian/gay/bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual) youth and their allies.
Among the programs and services offered are:
- The Drop-in Center
- The Jerry Strickland Library
- The David Bohnett CyberCenter
- Free HIV Testing
- Individual Counseling
- Support Groups
- Texas GSA Network
- Writers’ Block and You Gotta Have Art

- Young Adult Leadership Group
- Health & Safer Sex Trainings
- Life Skills
All of our programs, services, and partnerships aim to provide LGBTQIA youth and their allies with opportunities to develop positive self-esteem, identify and cultivate peer support networks, and prepare for a successful adulthood.
Our programs and services also have the unique distinction of being youth-directed. The youth have a significant influence over the topics we cover in our educational programming, and they guide the discussion topics in our support groups. Additionally, the staff of the Texas GSA Networkis made up of three youth. When Out Youth says it supports the development of LGBTQIA youth, we mean it!
Out Youth also extends our educational and developmental program and service offerings through field trips, our Queers Got Talent shows, the annual Queer Prom, and partnerships with other organizations in Austin.
Out Youth and the Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF) partner to host the Queer Youth Media Project every summer. Our youth also participate in the AIDS Walk Austin, the Hill Country Ride for AIDS, the Habitat for Humanity Pride Build, the Austin Pride Parade and QueerBomb.
