Young Adult Leaders
The Young Adult Leaders Group, made up of Out Youth alumni and youth who will soon “age out,” is a forum to share ideas on how to continue making Out Youth a space where young voices can be heard.
The Young Adult Leaders believe in making Out Youth more visible to communities who may not yet have a connection with Out Youth. They understand the importance of outreach to areas such as Pflugerville and Round Rock, where LGBTQIA youth may not have a safe space near their homes. Since the beginning of 2011, they have focused their work on strengthening Out Youth’s connection to Central Texas communities.
Many of Out Youth’s interns share their skills of community organizing with the group to help keep the leaders motivated. Participants in the Young Adult Leaders Group also serve as leaders and mentors at Out Youth and actively raise money to support Out Youth programs.
The Young Adult Leaders Group meets from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Friday. It’s open to LGBTQIA and ally youth ages 18 to 23.
