Through educational programs led by professionals, interns, volunteers and youth leaders, young people are provided a safe and nurturing environment where they are encouraged to express themselves and learn accurate, up-to-date information about a host of topics important to their development.
Out Youth’s educational programs are designed to teach LGBTQIA youth and their allies the kinds of things they are not taught at school, at home, or at church. If knowledge is power, our intention is to empower young people with a broad knowledge of the LGBTQIA community and the world, and prepare them for a fulfilling journey of self-discovery.
While there are plenty of publicly accessible resources that can offer basic information about sexuality and gender identity topics, they often neglect lesser-understood subjects such as transgender and genderqueer youth, rural queer youth, homelessness, negotiating the world as a queer youth-of-color, forming healthy and safe relationships, navigating employment with gender identity concerns, and finding queer-friendly health care.
Out Youth is a premier resource for knowledge about all these topics and is the only service provider in Central Texas suited to handle the specialized needs of the LGBTQIA youth community.
