Queers Got Talent

Queers Got Talent is Out Youth’s open mic and talent show where talented LGBTQIA youth amaze not only with singing and dancing, but also with color guarding, slam poetry, stand-up comedy or drag.

Out Youth long had open mics and talent shows, but they were often integrated into other events. We decided to formalize the talent show in 2010 by giving it a name, a venue, youth emcees, local celebrity judges, and prizes.

Our first Queers Got Talent was held in April 2010 at Salvage Vanguard Theater, with a packed house and rave reviews. The winner was even invited to perform at our annual Queer Prom. We hope to make this an annual event, and we have our talent scouts searching the town for the perfect venue for QGT 2011!

Not only is the event an opportunity for fun, it also helps Out Youth support the creativity of our youth, teach them public performance and speaking skills, and raise funds to support our programs and services.

Watch the blog and our Facebook page for updates and information on how to enter Queers Got Talent.
